PG Compass

A focused PostgreSQL desktop viewer for browsing rows, inspecting schemas, running SQL, and exploring table relationships.

TypeScript · Electron · React

Start with the data

PG Compass is a desktop app for the everyday work of inspecting a PostgreSQL database. Save and label connections, browse schemas and tables, and open paginated rows without setting up an entire development environment.

The table viewer includes a card layout for JSONB-heavy data. A structure inspector puts column types, indexes, and constraints together, while an ER diagram maps tables and foreign keys from PostgreSQL's catalogs.

Queries when you need them

An SQL editor runs ad-hoc queries with result previews. Table data and query results can be exported as CSV or JSON. Light and dark themes are built in.

The app is written in TypeScript with Electron and React, uses node-postgres for database access, and shares typed messages between its desktop processes. The repository also includes an Astro landing page and tests against a real PostgreSQL database.
