Network Bandwidth Monitor 2020 · Desktop tool A small Python and Tkinter desktop utility that displays uploaded, downloaded, and total network traffic. Originally built for a capped connection. Tech: Python · Tkinter · psutil Source code https://github.com/waterrmalann/NetworkBandwidthMonitor Watching a data cap Network Bandwidth Monitor began as a console script for keeping an eye on internet usage when I had a data cap. After learning some Tkinter, I gave it a small desktop window. The app reads system network counters through psutil and displays uploaded, downloaded, and combined traffic. It also shows the change in each direction between refreshes, updating roughly every second and a half. An early Python utility The implementation fits in one Python file. It reads the system counters rather than keeping a persistent usage history, so it is a live view rather than a monthly billing tracker. The original project was tested on Windows and Ubuntu.
